Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, met on Sunday, at the ministry’s office, with Eng. Sherif El-Erian, president of the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation (EMPF), a number of the ministry’s leaders, and members of the organizing committee of the World Modern Pentathlon Championships for adults that Egypt will host next June, Within the context of his follow-up of the preparations for Egypt's hosting of various international sports tournaments.
The meeting reviewed the developments related to hosting the players participating in the tournament from various countries of the world, all the logistical and administrative details, the financial regulation and the arrangements for the opening ceremony, as part of the organizing committee plan set to host the tournament. This tournament is one of the largest tournaments of the International Federation of the game, in addition to identifying the readiness of the male and female national team players for the championship competitions.
The meeting discussed the precautionary measures that will be implemented on the players participating in the tournament and the delegations accompanying them. All this is done in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Health for the prevention of the spread of coronavirus.
In this regard, Eng. Sherif El-Erian explained that the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne is awaiting for the information from Egypt regarding the protocol that will be applied in the tournament to confront the Coronavirus in order to preserve the health of the participants, pointing out that a file will be prepared containing all the arrangements and measures that will be implemented to be reviewed in a meeting next week, in preparation for taking the implementing steps of the tournament.
For his part, the Minister of Youth and Sports stressed that he is following-up all the details of hosting the World Pentathlon Championship in coordination with the Egyptian Federation for the Game, and making sure of all preparations regarding the availability of tools related to competitions, places for training, and halls hosting the tournament in the Cairo International Stadium Authority, as well as matters related to reception ceremonies for Players, and their accommodations in the hotels intended for them.
Sobhy expressed his confidence in the success of hosting the tournament in continuation of the series of successes achieved by Egypt in hosting and implementing events and major tournaments, thanks to the organizational experience of Egypt.
