Sports Participates in International University Sports Federation Meetings in Germany

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, participated in the Executive Committee and General Assembly meetings of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), held on the sidelines of the Summer Universiade events in the city of Rhein-Ruhr, Germany, with delegations representing more than 100 countries from various continents.
The minister’s participation in these international meetings comes in his capacity as President of the African University Sports Federation, a board member of the International Federation, and a member of the Development Committee. This reflects the international community’s confidence in Egyptian competencies and their ability to contribute to the development of the university sports system at both continental and global levels.
The meetings discussed a range of important topics, including ways to support university sports in developing countries, expanding participation in international championships, mechanisms for developing global university sports infrastructure, reviewing plans for hosting upcoming championships, and presenting evaluation reports for the current event held in Germany.
During his speech before the General Assembly, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy emphasized the importance of joint work between continental and international federations to build an integrated sports system for university students. He pointed out that the African continent possesses enormous youth potential that needs empowerment and support through international platforms such as the International University Sports Federation.
The minister said, "Through our presence in these international forums, we are keen to represent the African continent honorably and work on establishing real strategies to integrate university youth into an advanced educational sports system. We also affirm our full support to enhance the presence of African universities in major championships and expand the network of cooperation with various countries and global sports institutions."
